Tell us what you need and we will keep watch
Used stock moves quickly, especially for items that still have good life left in busy kitchens around Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand and the East Rand. If you are waiting for a specific unit, send us the type of equipment, size, power supply and your budget range. We then match incoming stock against your request and contact you when something suitable is available.
This helps if you are opening a new kitchen, replacing a unit after a breakdown, or looking for a stopgap while a new order is being planned. It also works well when you need a lower-cost option for a takeaway, school, tuckshop, church kitchen or catering setup.
What sort of used equipment can trigger an alert
We look out for a practical range of second-hand catering equipment, not just one category. If your kitchen needs a single item or a few pieces at once, let us know the mix you want and we can watch for it.
- Deep fryers and countertop fryers
- Toasters and sandwich grills
- Mixers and prep equipment
- Microwaves and warming units
- Chafing dishes and serving items
- Other inspected used catering equipment
If you are after a hard-to-find size or a unit for a tight corner, mention the available footprint. A few centimetres can matter when the space is already planned and the kitchen line must fit around sinks, extraction and prep tables.
How we check second-hand stock before we call you
Used equipment needs proper checking before it is offered to a customer. Our workshop team looks at condition, working parts and whether the unit is worth putting back into service. Where needed, the equipment is cleaned, tested and assessed for practical use in a commercial kitchen.
- Visual condition and general wear
- Working switches, controls and safety parts
- Heating, power draw and basic function
- Whether the unit suits a busy kitchen pace
- Whether it is worth repairing or refurbishing first
If a unit needs attention, we can discuss servicing or workshop refurbishment before you collect or take delivery. That is often the better route for kitchens dealing with load-shedding, heavy daily use, or older buildings where electrical points and heat build-up need attention.
Steps to place a used stock alert with Afchain
Getting on the alert list is straightforward. Send us the details by email and our sales team will follow up if something suitable comes in. The more specific you are, the easier it is for us to match the right item and avoid wasting your time.
- Tell us the equipment type you need
- Add the size, capacity and power supply if known
- Share your location and whether you need delivery
- Give your budget range or target price
- Let us know if you need installation, servicing or positioning
You can send your request to quotes@afchain.co.za. If you are comparing options for a few branches or a new site in Pretoria Central, Randburg or Kempton Park, say so upfront so we can keep the alert relevant.
Collection, delivery and installation once stock becomes available
When a matching item comes in, we can discuss collection from our Silverton base or arrange delivery across Pretoria and Gauteng. For some items, delivery and positioning make sense, especially where access is tight or the equipment needs to sit in a fixed line beside prep counters, fridges or hot holding units.
We also help with site assessments, kitchen reconfiguration and handover training where required. If the used unit is going into a bakery, coffee shop or busy takeaway, it is worth checking the space, power points and workflow before the equipment is moved in. That avoids delays later on and helps the unit work properly from day one.
Who to speak to at Afchain
Afchain Catering Equipment has been serving Pretoria and Gauteng since 2011, with support from a team that handles quotes, sourcing, servicing and workshop work. If you need advice on a used unit, the people you will usually deal with are Mpho Sekgobela, Annelie van Wyk, Sibusiso Dlamini, Kagiso Molefe, Nadia Petersen and Tshepo Mokoena.
We work with customers in Pretoria Central, Centurion, Midrand, Kempton Park, Boksburg and Randburg. Coastal humidity is not our main issue here, but heat, dust and power interruptions are, so used stock has to be suitable for local conditions not just cheap on the day.
